mexico manufacture

Global manufacturing in Mexico had its start in the mid-1960s under the auspices of what was then called the Border Industrialization Program (B.I.P). The B.I.P. was established subsequent to the cessation of the Bracero Program, which was a temporary worker program instituted in 1942 for parques industriales de Méxicothe purpose of satisfying the demand for agricultural labor resulting from the United States’ entrance into WWII.

Today there are more than 3000 maquiladora establishments in Mexico, located both on the border and in the country’s interior that employ in excess of 1 million workers. While maquiladora manufacturing had its roots in high-volume, low-tech manufacturing, production in today’s factories is world-class and technologically state-of-the-art.

Join leading manufacturers in the automotive, medical device, aerospace, electronics, optics and other quality conscious industries in reaping the benefits of participating in the Maquiladora Industry under The Offshore Group’s ISO 9001:2000 certified Mexico Shelter Plan. You manufacture…we do the rest.
