Manufacturing in
Mexico Summit
Learn more about The Offshore Group's yearly gathering of manufacturers in Mexico.
Gary, Tennessee -based TPI Corporation will shortly begin to manufacture to snap disc thermostats in Saltillo, Mexico.
The company has signed an agreement with The Offshore Group for the rental of 34,822 square feet of industrial space, as well as for outsourced manufacturing support, or “Mexico Shelter Plan,” services at the La Angostura Industrial Park. TPI plans to employ 100 workers, and will add additional workers as the company’s market share grows.
According to TPI‘s owner, Bobby Henry, “Our Mexico operation will enable us to be more competitive in our domestic and international markets. Given that the cost of production of our Asian suppliers has risen significantly, we identified Mexico manufacturing as being the right solution for our company. We investigated and interviewed several firms to assist us in making this transition possible. We selected the Offshore Group, and found them to be a knowledgeable, organized, and results-oriented company. They have addressed all of the issues that need to be considered in this start-up process and have basically left us to focus on the manufacturing aspects of our business.”
In addition to the initial production of thermostats, the company also plans to produce lighting products and capillaries for heating and cooling applications, as well as to move products that are now being manufactured in China to Mexico.
